On November 1, 2012, students from across Yale "Elihu'd" on the 2nd Annual Elihu Day. Students expressed their gratitude to donors by signing more than 1,000 personal thank-you cards at seven locations located in Yale College and at the schools of Music, Forestry & Environmental Studies, Divinity, Public Health, Medicine, and Nursing.

294 years ago, Elihu Yale made history when he donated nine bales of goods, some books, and a portrait of King George I to the Connecticut colony's fledgling collegiate school. By way of thanks, the trustees named the school in his honor.
